Tyma, Bushma Win in Dragons’ Loss at No. 3 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The formidable Drexel twosome of Karina Tyma and Alina Bushma collected wins in the top two spots on the ladder in the No. 8 Dragons' 7-2 loss at No. 3 Princeton on Sunday.

Drexel's top-two players have yet to drop a match this season and are a combined 9-0.

Tyma and Raneem El Torky battled in a five-game thriller at the top position. Tyma led 2-0 after back-to-back 11-4 wins. El Torky responded with 11-6, 12-10 victories before Tyma took the fifth, 12-10.

Bushma scored an 11-7, 11-7, 11-6 sweep over Andrea Toth in the second position.

Anna Hughes and Morgan Steelman split the first two games in the No. 5 match, but Steelman pulled away with successive wins in her 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6 victory.

Ona Prokes went one game up on India Stephenson in the No. 7 match before dropping the next two. Prokes staved off elimination with a 12-10 win in the fourth game but ultimately lost 9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 10-12, 11-7.

The Dragons finish off the calendar year with two-straight matches at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. Drexel hosts No. 27 St. Lawrence on Dec. 6 before welcoming No. 5 Yale the following day.
