No. 8 Women’s Squash Sweeps Past No. 27 St. Lawrence

PHILADELPHIA – Eighth-ranked Drexel Women's Squash authored a 9-0 sweep of No. 27 St. Lawrence on Friday at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. The Dragons (4-2) picked up two team points via defaults then claimed seven three-game victories.

Karina Tyma remains unbeaten in 2019 following an 11-2, 11-2, 11-0 win over Makyla Kelley at the No. 1 position. Anna Hughes topped Katherine Leiva in the second slot, 11-5, 11-5, 11-0.

Ciara Richards downed Starnisha Ramsey in the No. 3 match, winning 11-2, 11-1, 11-1. Lara Varma added an 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 victory against Xitlali Zuniga in the fourth slot.

In the No. 5 match, Rose Lawrence bested Alexandra Limas by an 11-5, 11-6, 11-6 score. Emma MacGillivray won 11-1, 11-3, 11-0 over Samantha Sambrook in the No. 6 slot, and Rebecca Low defeated Arelis Arellano (11-3, 11-1, 11-3) in the No. 7 match.

Katerina Cummings and Hatti Specter won by default in the No. 8 and No. 9 positions, respectively.

The Dragons face an uptick in competition tomorrow when they square off with fifth-ranked Yale at 1 p.m. in their final match of the calendar year.
