VESTAL, N.Y. – The Drexel wrestling team (4-8, 1-4 EIWA) dropped a close conference dual to the Binghamton Bearcats (6-3, 5-1 EIWA) from Vestal, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon by a 21-20 final.
After dropping the initial bout at 141 pounds, the Dragons captured wins at 149, 157 and 165 to take a 12-4 advantage over the Bearcats. Binghamton evened the match with major decision wins at 174 and 184 pounds. Redshirt senior Stephen Loiseau earned his ninth technical fall win at 197 pounds before heavyweight Joey Goodhart delivered a 2-0 decision to put Drexel back up 20-12. But Binghamton rallied for nine team points over the final two bouts to take the EIWA dual on Sunday.
Redshirt sophomore Parker Kropman, who joined the Dragons this winter after transferring from Binghamton, got a 7-2 decision win at 149 pounds. He recorded a takedown in the first. The next point in the bout came when he scored an escape in the third followed by two late takedowns.

Junior Ebed Jarrell, ranked as high as #15, executed his eighth pin of the season at 165 pounds. The win by fall came 2:05 into the bout for a first-period victory. Jarrell is 10-1 in dual bouts this campaign. Drexel now led 12-4 after four bouts.
Binghamton's Vincent and #8 Lou DePrez evened the match at 12-12 with major decision wins at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively, against Drexel sophomore Trevor Elfvin and freshman Anthony Walters.
Keeping with their current trends, Loiseau and Goodhart put the Dragons back on top with victories at 197 and 285 pounds. #12-ranked Loiseau had a takedown and a two-point nearfall followed by an astonishing three four-point nearfalls in his first-period technical fall win. The heavyweight is 11-1 in duals in season and has won his last seven bouts. After his win on Sunday, Drexel was up 20-12 overall.
Binghamton rewrote the outcome on Sunday when the script flipped back over to the lightweight matches. Freshman Antonio Mininno and Binghamton's Audey Ashkar were tied 2-2 heading into the third period at 125 pounds. Ashkar started with an escape to go up 3-2. With 90 seconds left, Mininno scored a takedown to go back up 4-3. An escape and takedown for Ashkar put the Bearcat back up 6-4. The Drexel scored got back within one with an escape with 48 seconds left but Ashkar secured the win with a late takedown for the 8-5 decision.
Trailing 20-15 with just the 133-pound bout left, Binghamton needed a pin to win. Drexel redshirt sophomore Alex Salas faced Zack Trampe of the Bearcats and his determination for one thing, a pin, as Binghamton scored four takedowns in the first period. In the second, Trampe and the Bearcats got what they were looking for with a pin 4:32 into the bout to comeback against Drexel, 21-20.
