WASHINGTON, D.C. - No. 11 Drexel men's squash was upended by No. 16 George Washington on Sunday afternoon, 8-1.
Ryan Leslie made his debut at the No. 7 position and fought hard, pushing his opponent to a close four games. No. 5 Noel Heaton battled to a five-game victory to salvage the Dragons a match. No. 4 Filip Krueger lost the first two games before making a spirited comeback to take the next two games, leveling his match at two games all. In the fifth game, Krueger started slowly going 7-2 down before he regained his composure leveling the match at 7-7. After a good comeback, Krueger got to 9-9 before losing the next rally on a no let and the match controversially on a stroke.
Matias Knudsen fought hard going a game up before being pegged back, before winning again the third game to once again go up by a game. A pattern was emerging as his opponent leveled the match winning the fourth game. After a tough few points, Knudsen seemed a little off the pace, as his opponent took the ascendancy closing out the match as Knudsen was not quite able to continue his winning ways.
