Schmidt Fires a 66 on Final Day of Golfweek Conference Challenge

Final Results
Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Drexel senior Connor Schmidt fired a six-under-par 66 on the final day of competition at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. Schmidt, who qualified for the U.S. Amateur over the summer, picked up where he left off a year ago. He had the lowest score of all 93 competitors in the field on Tuesday. Schmidt finished the tournament in fifth place overall at 211, which was five-under par. The Dragons ended their first tournament of the fall tied for 13th place overall.
Angelo Giantsopoulos had a solid final round for the Dragons. The junior bounced back with a 72 in the third round at the par-72 Cedar Rapids Country Club. He finished the 54-hole tournament at 222, just six shots over par. Freshman David Colleran added a 78 for Drexel on Tuesday, while Stephen Cerbara and Alex Butler, finished with an 80 and 81, respectively. Butler was third on the team with a 228 for the tournament, while Cerbara finished three shots behind him.
Ball State finished first overall at 11-under par. The Cardinals were the only team under par at the event. Campbell and San Jose State rounded out the top three, with three teams finishing in a tie for fourth place.
Drexel returns home for a few days before competing in the Dartmouth Invitational beginning on Saturday.
