No. 5 Men’s Squash Shuts out No. 19 Middlebury

PHILADELPHIA – No. 5-ranked Drexel Men's Squash did not drop a point in a 9-0 win over No. 19 Middlebury at the Kline & Specter Squash Center on Sunday.

Lucas Rousselet and Dylan Kachur collected three-game victories in the top two positions for the Dragons (6-3). Rousselet topped Nick Bermingham – 11-5, 11-2, 13-11. Kachur won 12-10, 11-9, 11-7 against Jacob Kagan.

Noel Heaton rallied from an 11-9 loss in the first game for a 9-11, 11-2, 11-9, 11-6 comeback against John Epley in the No. 3 position. Filip Krueger also needed four games to top Nate Moll in the fourth-seeded match.

Freshmen Matthew Lucente, José López, and Gautam Nagpal combined to win matches five through seven for the Dragons, all in three-game sweeps.

Lucente took down PK Keller in the fifth position – 11-2, 11-8, 11-6. López bested Wiatt Hinton by an 11-6, 11-1, 11-2 score, and Nagpal posted scores of 11-6, 11-1, 11-2 to down Alex Giles in the No. 7 match.

Shaan Dalal swept aside Alex Stimpson in the No. 8 match – 11-5, 11-2, 12-10. Michael Berry notched his first collegiate win, taking down Oliver Leeds in the ninth-seeded contest.

Drexel welcomes No. 14 Cornell to the Kline & Specter Squash Center next Sunday at 1 p.m.
