Dragons Look to Bounce Back on Saturday at Elon

ELON, N.C. - The Drexel men's basketball team will look to split its road trip on Saturday afternoon at Elon. The Dragons and Phoenix will get underway at 4 p.m. in the Schar Center.
About the Dragons
Drexel fell to 13-13 on the season after falling to William & Mary, 77-72, on Thursday night in Williamsburg. The Dragons were within striking distance most of the night, but the Tribe never trailed in the contest. Drexel trailed by just one with 47 seconds to play after Coletrane Washington had a four-point play, but William & Mary answered with a three-point play and picked up the win.
Camren Wynter had a big game in the loss. The sophomore, who is second in the CAA in assists and 10th in scoring, had 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Zach Walton was 6-for-11 from the floor and scored 14 points. Washington nailed four three-pointers and had 13 points.
The Dragons are now 6-7 in Colonial Athletic Association play, which puts them in a tie for sixth place with Northeastern. The Huskies make a return trip to Philadelphia next weekend.
About the Phoenix
Elon lost a heartbreaker to Delaware on Thursday, 81-75. The Phoenix led late before Nate Darling hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 21 seconds to go. Delaware ended the game on a 9-0 run as Elon fell to 5-9 in the CAA and 9-18 overall. Marcus Sheffield II continued his solid play of late with a team-high 24 points. The Phoenix made 15 three-pointers and shot 50 percent from the floor in the game.
Sheffield is Elon's top scorer at 18.3 points per game. He is one of six players with at least 21 three-pointers and is shooting 41 percent from deep. Hunter McIntosh averages 10.4 points and leads Elon with 55 three-pointers. Elon makes 10 three-pointers per game. The Phoenix has won three of its last four league games.
The Series
Drexel has a 4-3 lead in the all-time series with the Phoenix. Earlier this year, Drexel defeated Elon in Philadelphia, 63-41. Last year, the Dragons swept the season series. They won the first meeting in Philadelphia, 79-65, behind 21 points from Troy Harper. In the rematch at Elon, Drexel prevailed, 67-63. Trevor John scored 14 and Tim Perry, Jr. came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds. DU has now won the last four meetings. Elon's last win came on Dec. 30, 2017.
