Women’s Basketball Wins 11th Straight Over Delaware, 52-32

NEWARK, Del. – The Drexel University women's basketball team (18-6, 11-1 CAA) turned in its 11th-consecutive victory against the University of Delaware Blue Hens (9-14, 5-7 CAA) on Sunday afternoon by a final of 52-32 from the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Del.
HIGHLIGHTS
* The win came as Drexel's 11th-straight victory this season as the team improved to 11-1 in league play.
* The victory is also the Dragons' 11th consecutive over the Blue Hens all-time.
* The 32 points scored by Delaware was tied for the fewest scored by the Blue Hens in their program's history. The Dragons held Delaware to single-digit totals in each the first (6), second (5) and third quarters (9) before allowing 12 in the fourth.
* Drexel held Delaware to just 25.0% shooting from the field, the best defensive clip for DU on the year.
* It marks the third time that Drexel held a team to 32 points or less this season (La Salle, 31 on Dec. 17; Hofstra, 32 on Feb. 7; Delaware, 32 on Feb. 16).
* Junior Hannah Nihill had a balanced game with six points on 3-of-5 shooting, five rebounds, a game-high five assists and a game-high four steals.
* Sophomore Keishana Washington finished with a game-high 14 points behind 7-of-12 from the floor.
* Senior Bailey Greenberg scored nine points with five boards, four assists and a steal.
* Greenberg also moved into 3rd place on Drexel's all-time scoring list and now has 1,656 career points.
* Senior Aubree Brown scored eight points, all in the fourth quarter, grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, dished out three assists, recorded a game-high two blocks and added a steal for good measure.
* Senior Mariah Leonard also had eight points with five rebounds.
* After holding Delaware to just 11 points in the first half, Drexel used a 16-3 stretch in the third quarter to go up by 21 points, taking complete control of the conference affair.

Following an opening basket from Delaware, the Dragons went on a 9-0 early, forcing the Blue Hens to call a timeout with 4:08 left in the first. Nihill made a transition pass underneath to Leonard for an easy layup into the timeout as Drexel led, 9-2. The stretch continued with Washington's second basket, 11-2, before Delaware broke the run at 2:29, ending a seven-minute UD scoring drought. A putback with just about a minute left from Washington saw her go 3-of-3 in the period for six points. Drexel took a 13-6 advantage into the second quarter.

Drexel once again held the Blue Hens scoreless for a five-plus minute stretch to start the second with Delaware scoring its first basket with 4:52 to play. Washington started 4-of-4 from the floor and reached 10 points with a close-ranger jumper with 4:29 to play, 17-8. After allowing just six points in the first, Drexel limited Delaware to five in the second to own a 19-11 halftime edge.

Leonard started the second half with two easy baskets as Delaware called another quick timeout just 1:40 into the period and then used its third midway through the period. Drexel's run reached 14-1 to start the half, taking a 21-point advantage, 33-12. The Dragons held a 16-point lead after three quarters, 36-20. Nihill dished out four assists in the third quarter alone.
