Drexel's Postseason Begins Saturday vs. UNCW

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Drexel men's basketball team begins the postseason on Saturday afternoon in the 2020 Hercules Tires Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The Dragons will face UNCW at 4 p.m. at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. The facility is the home of the WNBA's Washington Mystics and the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League.
Drexel will be the eighth seed in the tournament, while UNCW will be the ninth seed. Drexel and UNCW split their season series with each team winning on its home court. Drexel picked up a win against the Seahawks back in December, 71-66, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. UNCW defeated Drexel last week in Wilmington by a score of 77-72.

The Dragons begin play on Saturday with a 13-18 record and will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. Cam Wynter, a Second Team All-CAA pick, enters the game with 499 points this season and is averaging 16.1 points per game. He is second in the CAA in assists. James Butler, who was named to the CAA's Third Team, averages 13.4 points and leads the CAA with 11.6 rebounds per game. His 359 rebounds this season are the fifth highest single-season total ever at Drexel. Last season at the CAA Championships, the Dragons were the sixth seed and lost in the opening round to the College of Charleston. Butler had 14 points and nine rebounds, while Matey Juric tied a Drexel CAA Championships record with five steals.

UNCW is 10-21 this season and finished 5-13 in CAA play. The Seahawks lost to Delaware, 82-65 in their last regular season game on Sunday. That loss snapped a two-game winning streak. Jaylen Sims is one of three players in double figures with 12.1 points per game. Ty Gadsden averages 10.4 and is shooting 36 percent from long range. Marten Linssen chips in with 10.3 points per game.
The CAA quarterfinals tip off at Noon on Sunday with the Drexel/UNCW winner meeting regular-season champion and top-seeded Hofstra. At 2:30 p.m., No. 4 Charleston takes on No. 5 Delaware. The evening session features second-seeded William & Mary facing the Elon/JMU winner at 6 p.m., and No. 3 Towson playing No. 6 Northeastern. The semifinal games of the CAA Men's Basketball Championship are set for 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Monday, with the two winners facing off for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. The semifinal games and championship game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
