Nicholas Earns Medalist as Dragons Place Second at ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

POWELLS POINT, N.C. - Drexel's Drue Nicholas capped an outstanding 54 holes by earning medalist honors at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. Nicholas finished the tournament at 12-under par to lead the Dragons to a second place finish at the Kilmaric Golf Club.
Nicholas closed the event by carding a 70. He picked up an individual title for the first time as a Dragon as he won going away by four strokes. Angelo Giantsopoulos had the best round of the day for the Dragons. The senior fired a three-under-par 68, which tied for the second best round of the day. Giantsopoulos and Jeffrey Cunningham finished in a tie for 12th place overall at 212 (-1). Griffin Mitchell and Liam Hart shot 217 and 220, respectively.
Drexel finished just two shots behind Delaware. The Dragons shot one-under on Tuesday afternoon and finished the event at 10-under par (842). That was the second best score Drexel has ever shot at the event and the fourth-best 54-hole finish in school history. Nicholas was just two off the Drexel individual record for 54 holes. Connor Schmidt set the record with a 14-under par score at the Elon Phoenix Invitational in 2019.
The Dragons close the fall season on Saturday at the City Six Invitational at Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, Pa.
