Angelo Giantsopoulos Named CAA Men's Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - Drexel's Angelo Giantsopoulos has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week. The senior has picked up where he left off last season and had an outstanding tournament this past week at the Health Care Mountaineer Invitational hosted by West Virginia.

Giantsopoulos finished third overall and came within two strokes of the Drexel single-round record by firing a 66. He had one of the best nine hole starts in recent Drexel memory. After his first four holes he was at even par. However, the Ontario native rattled off a birdie, an eagle on the par-4, 337-yard sixth hole and another pair of birdies before settling for par on number nine. He went to the turn at 31, five shots under par. On the back, he made eight pars and had one birdie to finish with his 66. Giantsopoulos ended the 54-hole event at 210 (-6)

Giantsopoulos has now shot par or better in seven of his nine rounds this fall. Five times he has been under par and through those nine rounds he has a 70.1 stroke average.
