The Drexel University women's basketball team plays its only home game in a three week stretch when it hosts the Dartmouth Big Green in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, November 30. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
About Drexel
Drexel enters play 4-2 overall and is coming off a 63-46 win against Fresno State on Saturday. Three players scored in double figures as Hannah Nihill had 15 wile Tessa Brugler and Keishana Washington tallied 13 each.
After being pressed into service due to foul trouble, Drexel's bench responded against Fresno State with 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a block in a combined 57 minutes. Coming into the contest, Dragons' reserves averaged 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 22.6 minutes. In particular, Borcky and Valentine contributed with five points and two rebounds each.
With her sixth point at UMES on November 20, Nihill became the 26th member of the Drexel women's basketball 1,000-point club. She didn't stop there as her 11 second half points gave her 15 in the game and 1,009 for her career, jumping her into 23rd place all-time for the Dragons. Adding in her 19 against Nebraska, she is now seven points shy of ascending to 22nd place on the scoring list. Her play in the last couple games has also moved her into sixth place on the DU career assist list where she currently has 386, two away from fifth place.
Scouting Dartmouth
Dartmouth enters play 0-4 overall and is coming off a 73-65 loss at Merrimack on Saturday. The Big Green is playing its fourth game in a row on the road and has not been at home since its season opener against Rhode Island on November 9. Dartmouth was voted seventh in the Ivy League Preseason Coaches Poll.
Katie Douglas lead the Big Green offense with 8.3 points per game followed closely by Mekkena Boyd at 7.8 a night. Rosie Jennings tops the team in rebounding with 5.8 boards a contest while Victoria Page has dished seven assists this season.
Rebounding has been a trouble spot for Dartmouth this season, pulling in 30.3 caroms per game and surrendering 41.8. The -11.5 margin is 335th out of 348 teams in Division I.
Adrienne Shibles is 0-4 in her first season as the head coach of the Big Green, but comes to Hanover with an impressive 419-167 mark in 22 seasons as a collegiate head coach with previous stops at Swarthmore and Bowdin at the Division III level. She guided the Garnet to the Second Round of the 2001 NCAA tournament, its deepest run in program history before guiding her Polar Bears teams to 11 20-win seasons, 10 trips to the NCAA tournament, and were national runners up in 2018 and 2019.
All-Time Series
Tuesday is the third meeting all-time between Drexel and Dartmouth and the first since 2015 with the teams splitting the matchups. The Big Green won 55-49 on December 20, 1987. It was 28 years before the Dragons got a measure of revenge with a 69-53 victory on November 13, 2015.
