Dragons Recognized in CAA Weekly and Monthly Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – Paris Raptis, Jack Patton and Peter Soares of the Drexel men's swimming and diving team and Fede Nocera of the women's swimming and diving team were named recipients of CAA weekly and monthly awards on Tuesday afternoon. Raptis was named the CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Patton was named the CAA Men's Diver of the Week. Soares earned the CAA Men's Rookie Diver of the Month accolade, and Nocera received the CAA Women's Rookie Swimmer of the Month for November.
Raptis recorded three first-place finishes to help lead Drexel to a 196-102 victory over Lehigh on Dec. 4. The senior won the 50 fly with a time of 22.21, setting a conference-high this season. The Anthousa, Greece native, also won the 200 IM in 1:55.03 and was a part of Drexel's 400 medley relay team that set a new pool record with a time of 3:19.89. Raptis also finished second in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 57.53.
Patton put forth one of his best performances of the year against the Mountain Hawks. The sophomore posted a 287.18 in the 3-meter event to place first. In the 1-meter competition, the Chattanooga, Tenn. native posted a 238.05 for a fourth-place finish.
Soares pieced together a quality month of competition to receive the conference's monthly honor for November. The freshman placed second overall with a score of 271.30 on the 1-meter boards against Lehigh. In the meet against Boston College, Soares posted a 2.42.50 on the 1-meter board and a 222.95 in the 3-meter event.
Nocera has been a welcomed addition for the Dragons in the 2021-22 season. The Trieste, Italy native, recorded the sixth-fastest time in the conference in both the 100 back (56.31) and the 200 back (2:00.18) at the Patriot Invitational. Nocera then took first place in both events in the tri-meet with Northeastern and Boston College, touching the wall in 56.83 in the 100 back and 2:01.01 in the 200 back. The freshman also placed first in the 200 IM (2:07.78) in the tri-meet in Boston.
The Dragons return to the DAC on Jan. 8 where they will host conference rival, Delaware. The meet will also be Drexel's alumni meet. Action is set to kickoff at 10:30 a.m.
