ABILENE, Texas - The Drexel men's basketball team will be in Texas this weekend and will face Abilene Christian University on Saturday evening. The Dragons and Wildcats tip-off at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time in a game that can be seen live on ESPN+. It is the return game of a home-and-home series which started in November of 2019. The 2021-22 Drexel men's basketball season is presented by IBEW 98.
THE SERIES
Tonight will be just the second meeting between the Dragons and Abilene Christian. The two teams met at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in November of 2019. Zach Walton capped off a career afternoon by hitting the game-winning 3-pointer with just 2.2 seconds remaining in overtime to give Drexel an 86-83 win. Payten Ricks led ACU with 29 points.

The Dragons are coming off a tough overtime loss at Princeton on Saturday evening. The Tigers rallied from a six-point deficit in overtime to win, 81-79. The loss dropped the Dragons record to 4-4. Camren Wynter led Drexel with 18, while Xavier Bell added 17. James Butler had his fourth double-double in the last five games with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Butler leads the team and is third in the CAA in both rebounding (9.9) and scoring (15.6). His .644 field goal percentage is second in the CAA. Wynter scores 14.9 points per game and his 4.4 assists per game is second in the league. Bell chips in with 11.4 points, while Melik Martin averages 11.3 and is fifth in the league in 3-point percentage. Sophomore Lamar Oden is third in the CAA in 3-point percentage at .500 (10-20).
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Abilene Christian has won five straight games and is now 5-2 this season. The Wildcats have scored 88 points or more in each of their last four games. They have a very balanced offense with eight players scoring at least 6.4 points per game, but none more than 12. Coryon Mason is tops on the club with 12 points per game. Mahki Morris is next with 11.3 points. Immanuel Allen is shooting a blistering .667 (8-12) from long range. The Wildcats force opponents into 24 turnovers per contest.
Last season ACU went 24-5 and upset Texas in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Drexel will play its next three games in Philadelphia. The Dragons host Coppin State on Dec, 14 at 8 p.m. as part of a doubleheader at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. After that game, the Dragons will play at Temple and La Salle before getting some time off around the holiday break. .
