PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's soccer team lost a 1-0 decision at La Salle on Sunday night at McCarthy Field in Olney. Drexel fell to 1-2 on the young season, while La Salle improved to 3-0.
The Explorers scored their only goal on a penalty kick in the early minutes of the second half. Jenna Soriano took the kick for the Explorers and her shot went into the lower right corner, beating Drexel goalkeeper Miyuki Schoyen.
Drexel seemed to have the edge in play most of the night. The Dragons had six corner kicks in the first half, but were unable to put a ball past Jillian DeSantis. Drexel outshot La Salle, 12-11, and six of those shots were turned aside by DeSantis. Schoyen made two saves for Drexel.
The Dragons are scheduled to return to the field on Friday afternoon at noon. The Wagner Seahawks come to town for a non-conference match
