Six Wrestlers Set for NCAA Championships in St. Louis

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel wrestling team is set to send Julian Flores, Luke Nichter, Parker Kropman, Evan Barczak, Michael O'Malley and Bryan McLaughlin into action next week at the NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo. The tournament begins Thursday, March 18, and will end on Saturday, March 21.
Dragons at NCAAs
Flores, a 141 automatic qualifier and fourth-place finisher at the EIWA Championships, will open his first trip to the NCAAs against Nick Lee of Penn State. Nichter, a 149 automatic qualifier and third-place finisher at the EIWA Championships, will also make his first appearance in the NCAA Championship. The Freshmen is slatted to face Legend Lamer of California Polytechnic State.
Kropman, a 157 automatic qualifier and fifth-place finisher at the EIWA Championships, will return to the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career. He is set to face Jared Franek of North Dakota State. Barczak, a 165 automatic qualifier and fourth-place finisher at the EIWA Championships, debuts in his first NCAA Championship, facing University of Pittsburgh's Jake Wentzel.
O'Malley, a 174 automatic qualifier and second-place finisher at the EIWA Championships, will make his first official trip to the NCAAs. He will face Hayden Hastings of the University of Wyoming. McLaughlin, a 194 automatic qualifier and fourth-place finisher at the EIWA Championships, represents the Dragons' final wrestler in the championships. He is set to face off against Cameron Caffey of Michigan State.
In the final Coaches Panel Rankings, Nichter ranked No. 32 at 149, Kropman ranked No. 27 at 157, Barczak ranked No. 28 at 165, O'Malley ranked No.18 at 174 and McLaughlin ranked No. 26 at 194.
