PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Temple scored an early goal and that proved to be enough as the Owls defeated Drexel, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Howarth Field in North Philadelphia. The Owls improved to 4-5, while Drexel lost for the first time this season and is 1-1.
Temple converted a corner just 2:11 into the game and took the early lead. Sydney Borneman was credited with the goal. The Owls outshot Drexel 10-4 in the opening half but could not add another as Megan Hadfield made four of her six saves in the opening 30 minutes.
Drexel managed eight shots and had five corners, including two in the fourth quarter, but could not find the back of the net. Hadfield finished with six saves in goal for Drexel. Cristina Carotenuto has three stops in recording the shutout for the Owls.
The Dragons are scheduled to open up conference play on Sunday against Hofstra at Buckley Field.
