Giantsopoulos Leads Dragons at Sea Palms Invitational

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The Drexel golf team completed its first tournament of the 2021 season this weekend at the Sea Palms Invitational. Angelo Giantsopoulos closed the tournament with a 73 on Saturday during difficult conditions in Georgia. Giantsopoulous was just three shots off of the best score of the day on Saturday.
The Dragons finished 13th overall in the event. Saturday proved to be a frustrating day for all the teams involved. The best team round of the day was a 295, which was 11 shots over par. Drexel fired a 306 on the day, which was the 10th best round of the afternoon. The Dragons ended the 54-hole event at 907.
Giantsopoulos tied for 20th overall at 221 (+8). Only one participant finished under par at the conclusion of the event. Stephen Cerbara shot 227, while Connor Schmidt had a 229.
The Dragons will have a quick turnaround as they play in the Don Benbow Invitational beginning on Monday at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
