Men's Varsity Eight Places Second at Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA, PA- The Drexel Men's Varsity 8 finished second at the 38^th Memorial Murphy Cup. The Dragons had six shells competing on Saturday on the Schuylkill River.

The Varsity 8+ finished second (5:44) overall just seven seconds behind Temple's winning boat. The Dragons edged the University of Pennsylvania by a second (5:45) and also beat cross-town rival La Salle.

In the 2^nd Varsity 8+ race, Drexel placed third out of six boats with a time of 5:52, only a second behind Temple (5:51). The University of Pennsylvania picked up the win. In the 3^rd Varsity 8+ race, Drexel's boats finished in second (6:08) and third (6:17) place, coming in behind University of Pennsylvania (5:54) but ahead of La Salle (6:45). The men's Varsity 4+ finished with the Quakers on top (6:37), followed by the Dragons (6:42), who finished ahead of Temple (6:44) in a close race.

The day started off with a Drexel victory against Temple in the Frosh/Novice 8+. The Dragons finished 14 seconds better than the Owls in the race.
