Women's Tennis Takes 6-1 Loss to Penn

PHILADELPHIA, Pa – The Drexel women's tennis team (2-3) dropped a tough 6-1 loss to the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday afternoon.
The Quakers took an early lead on the Dragons, clinching the doubles point in the No. 1 slot. Marta Martinez and Pauline Kharkover fought to keep Drexel alive in the No. 3, as the duo collected a 6-3 win over Katya Vinnik and Gibson Thomas.
Martinez got the Dragons off to a hot start in singles play to try and swing the momentum, taking a 6-0, 7-5 contest from Clarise Huang. Freshman Isabel Cabrerizo had a strong outing in singles play as well, fighting to a three-set contest in the No. 5 against Gibson Thomas before falling 10-8 in the final set.
Drexel returns home for a matchup with Delaware on Wednesday, Apr. 14 at 1 p.m. The Dragons will celebrate the careers of their three seniors Mya Fuentes, Marta Martinez and Salma Ziouti.
