PHILADELPHIA – Following a strong showing at the 82nd Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta last weekend, the Drexel women's rowing team is ready to try to continue the momentum on Sunday, May 16 when the Dragons take to the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. at the CAA Championship.
Beginning at 10:20 a.m., the third varsity eight will kick off the morning's action in the Marlene Buckley II boat from lane five. The varsity four follows at 10:30 a.m., racing in the Marci shell from lane four. At 10:40 a.m., the second varsity eight will look to strike gold again following last week's Dad Vail gold in the Cara Fry boat from lane four. The varsity eight, also coming off a Dad Vail gold medal, closes the morning's action at 10:50 a.m. in the Alleva XVII boat from lane four.
In 2019, the last time the CAA Rowing Championship was held, the Dragons won gold in the varsity eight and varsity four races, finishing second overall as a team. Crews on the Cooper River Sunday morning will be rowing for a spot in the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championship on May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
