Hadfield Saves 16 in Dragons 7-1 Loss to UNC

PHILADELPHIA – Megan Hadfield recorded a career-high 16 saves in Drexel's 7-1 loss to No. 4 UNC on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons held a UNC offensive unit that is averaging 4.17 goals and 17.2 shots per game scoreless through the first quarter, but the Tar Heels picked up two in the second and never looked back. Drexel drops to 1-5 on the season and UNC moves to an even 3-3.
The Dragons defense put up a valiant effort against UNC's powerhouse offense, collecting 18 total saves on 25 shots on net. Plagued by several timely penalty calls, Drexel's offense struggled to find their groove through much of the second half.
Drexel was able to turn the tide in the fourth quarter with an all-in effort in the Tar Heels circle. Tina Rawa took the Dragons first shot of the afternoon and forced Drexel's solo penalty corner opportunity. Liz Chipman took the shot from the top of the key and a combined effort in front of the net allowed Amber Brouwer to sneak one in from the left corner to put Drexel on the board.
The Dragons return home next weekend for a pair of home matchups against Saint Francis and Rider.
