Final Results
Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Drexel golf team completed its first tournament of the season with an eighth place finish at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. The Dragons shot four-under par as a team on the final day at True Blue.
Drue Nicholas, a sophomore playing in his first tournament at Drexel, shot a 68 in the third round. The transfer from N.C. State shot under par in each of the three rounds and finished ninth overall in the individual standings with an eight-under par 208. Angelo Giantsopoulos fired a 69 on Tuesday and finished at four-under par (212), which tied him for 20th place overall. Jeffrey Cunningham had an even-par 72, while both Brockton English and Liam Hart finished the day at three over. Cunningham ended the tournament at 217.
Delaware won the tournament at 30-under par. The Blue Hens shot 18-under par on Tuesday to overtake Mercer by just one stroke. Mercer had the lead through the first two rounds. Campbell placed third.
Drexel will be off for a few weeks before playing locally in the Wildcat Invitational. The two-day event hosted by Villanova will take place beginning on Sept. 27 at the Radnor Valley Country Club.
