
Men's Squash Turns In Best Ever Performance Against Harvard

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 9 Drexel University men's squash team turned in its best performance against the No. 2 Harvard Crimson on Tuesday afternoon, taking its most matches ever from the Crimson and forcing the defending individual national champion to extra points in a five-game thriller. Overall, Harvard took a 6-3 victory.
The bottom of the ladder led the way for the Dragons. Picking up the first point of the day was Jose Lopez in the eighth spot, who beat Conner Stoltz 11-4, 11-5, 12-10. Opening the second rotation, Filip Krueger downed John Finley Ong 11-5, 11-8, 11-8 at number nine.
Trailing 4-2, Drexel got a boost from Noel Heaton at number seven. After falling behind two games, Heaton pulled off the reverse sweep, topping Tate Harms 6-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11.
The most scintillating match of the day came in the second position where Matias Knudsen and defending CSA individual champion Marwan Tarek battled for more than 90 minutes. After Tarek took the first game 12-10, Knudsen won the second 11-4. The pair split the next two games with Tarek winning the third 11-6 and Knudsen taking the fourth 11-7. In the fifth, Knudsen went up 7-5 before Tarek won five of the next six points, opening a 10-8 lead. Knudsen fought off two match balls and pulled even at 10-10 before Tarek claimed the next two points and the five game win.
DU returns to action tomorrow when it hosts No. 25 Navy at 5:30 p.m.
