PHILADELPHIA – Playing for a second straight day, the No. 9 Drexel University men's squash team easily handled the No. 25 Navy Midshipmen, coming away with a 9-0 victory on Wednesday evening.
Getting things started for the Dragons was Matias Knudsen in the No. 1 spot, defeating Ryan York 11-1, 11-1, 11-4. Following that was Filip Krueger at No. 5 who won 11-6, 11-7, 11-8 against Lucas Spiro. Dylan Kachur took a sweep in the third position 11-6, 11-2, 11-5.
The bottom of the ladder for Drexel showcased team depth as three players who hadn't seen action yet this season all came away with victories. Completing the first rotation, Emil Snyman won at No. 8, topping Benjamin Balser 11-5, 11-1, 11-3. Nicolo Abou Taleb claimed the overall match for the DU in the ninth position with a 13-11, 11-2, 11-5 win against William Hyer.
In the second rotation, Noel Heaton won at No. 4, 11-6 11-7, 11-8. Haris Qasim took his match in the second spot with a 11-7, 11-4, 11-5 victory. Gautam Nagpal defeated Thomas Rankin 11-4, 11-4, 11-8 at No. 6 and Rohan Korn completed the shutout for Drexel with an 11-6, 13-11, 7-11, 11-5 win at No. 7.
The Dragons return to action on Saturday, hosting No. 8 Virginia at 4:00 p.m.
