
No. 9 Men's Squash Picks Up Key Win Versus No. 8 Virginia

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 9 Drexel University men's squash team picked up a crucial top-10 victory with a 6-3 win against No. 8 Virginia on Saturday evening.
It is the highest ranked opponent the Dragons beat since a 5-4 win against No. 6 Rochester on December 8, 2019.
In a back and forth contest, Drexel led 4-3 with two matches remaining. Not wasting time, DU got the clinching point when Haris Qasim defeated Taha Dinana 11-9, 11-2, 11-7 in the third position. Sealing the final result, Filip Krueger topped Charles Braff 11-9, 14-12, 11-6 at number nine.
Trailing 0-1, the Dragons earned their first point at number eight where Jose Lopez beat William Holey 11-8, 11-4, 11-6. After the Cavaliers won in the sixth spot, Drexel pulled even at number four as Fritiof Jacobsson defeated Cullen Little 11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8.
Opening the second rotation, Matias Knudsen gave DU its first lead of the evening with a victory against Omar El Torkey 11-9, 11-2, 11-5 at number two. UVA came back to knot the match at 3-3, but the Dragons immediately responded with Dylan Kachur in the fifth spot, who claimed an 11-2, 11-3, 11-7 victory against Tyley Mackesy.
The Dragons are in action next at the Mid Atlantic Squash Championships, February 5-6 in Lancaster, Pa.
