HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing by two with 7.6 seconds left in regulation, the Dragons initial shot came up short, but a rebound by Brugler kept possession as Kate Connolly calmly dropped an 10-foot baseline jumper as time expired to force overtime.
- In the extra session, the Seahawks opened the scoring with a three before DU came back with six in a row and did not relinquish the lead the rest of the game.
- The two teams played evenly in the first quarter as four different players scored for the Dragons, but UNCW led by two after 10 minutes.
- After a put-back layup for the Seahawks pushed them up by three at the 5:37 mark of the second, DU answered with a 9-3 run as a pair of buckets by Brugler mixed around a three from Maura Hendrixson and a fastbreak layup by Washington, giving Drexel a 29-26 lead with three minutes remaining in the frame. Overall, Brugler posted six points and five rebounds in the period as DU took a three-point lead into the break.
- Brugler continued her blistering pace early in the third, scoring three times in the opening 2:31 of the stanza as the Dragons opened a 39-31 lead. UNCW hung around, but some timely shooting from Connolly kept Drexel up 46-40 heading into the final period.
- The Seahawks used an early 9-4 spurt in the fourth to close to within a point at 50-49, but Drexel was able to maintain the lead until the final 30 seconds.
