BY THE NUMBERS
- The result ends a three-match streak for the Pride. Drexel had lost to Hofstra in the three previous meetings, including the meeting in the 2021 CAA Semi Finals.
- Josh Dubost scored the Dragons' first goal of the game. It was the first goal in a Drexel uniform for the graduate student and second in his career.
- Drexel is one draw or win away from clinching its third consecutive postseason berth. However, the Dragons have secured a record that is .500 and above for three-straight seasons.
- The match was a high intensity fight for the lead for the full 90 minutes. The Dragons scored their first goal in the 16th minute of the contest. A free kick taken by Kyle Tucker found the head of Dubost. The graduate student pushed the ball over the outstretched hand of the Pride keeper to put the Dragons on top.
- Hofstra scored the equalizer in the 26th minute. The Pride took a shot from outside the penalty area and found the hand of a Drexel defender. The handball gave Hofstra a chance from the penalty strike and Eliot Goldthorp buried the shot to the lower right of the goal.
- In the 70th minute, Hofstra took the lead after Ryan Carmichael beat his defender and had a one-on-one opportunity on goal.
- With Drexel down one in the 75th minute, the Dragons pressed hard. Playing sound soccer and making precise passes, a ball was played into the box and Giancarlo Vaccaro found the back of the net to even the score at two. The goal was his first in a Drexel uniform and third of his career.
