HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Drexel men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought match to the Hofstra Pride, 1-0, on Saturday night in Hempstead.

The first half was a physical, back-and-forth match with neither team able to pull away. Drexel drew fouls early but was unable to find the back of the net. Effort from Morgan Worsfold-Gregg and Leon Park led to a 14^th-minute shot by Hofstra that was blocked. The teams continued to battle defensively. Sharif Mohammed took a hard-hit shot in the 25^th minute that was saved. The Pride responded with a shot of their own in the 32^nd minute that was saved by Bartell. A Hofstra shot at 34:39 went wide. Victor Moerck responded with a shot in the 38^th minute. Both teams ended the half with offensive opportunities; Bartell recorded another save at 41:05, and in the 44^th minute Worsfold-Gregg drew a foul deep in Hofstra territory, but ultimately the half ended without a goal. Neither team took a corner in the first half.

Hofstra generated multiple opportunities to start the second half, taking two corners in the first five minutes. At 51:17, a shot from Henry Poll found the back of the net to give the Pride the lead. The teams went back and forth, with neither team able to create scoring chances. A Hofstra shot in the 74^th minute was saved by Bartell. Both teams continued to battle defensively. The Pride had more opportunities in the 80^th minute with a pair of shots that were saved by Bartell. Drexel blocked shots in the 84^th and 89^th minutes but ultimately fell 1-0.
