Women's Soccer Downs Delaware, Will Host CAA Tournament Games

NEWARK, Del. – Two goals in the first 20 minutes lifted the Drexel women's soccer team to a 2-1 win on the final day of the regular season against the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday afternoon.
The win, combined with a victory by Monmouth against Northeastern and a draw between Towson and Elon secured the No. 2 seed for the Dragons in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association tournament, meaning DU will host quarterfinal and semifinal matchups on October 27 and 30.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Anna Salvucci and Annalena O'Reilly each scored for Drexel. For Salvucci it was her third of the season. The tally was the seventh of the year for O'Reilly
- O'Reilly also added an assist. She now has 19 points on the season, fifth on the Dragons single season list. The senior recorded a point in seven of nine CAA contests this year.
- The goal by Salvucci was the ninth time the Dragons scored in the first 10 minutes of a match this season.
- It was the 10th win of the season for Drexel, just the third time in program history it has reached that mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the sixth minute, O'Reilly came through the box on the left side and centered it for Salvucci who redirected the ball into the top right corner for a 1-0 Drexel lead.
- 14 minutes later, DU was awarded a penalty kick as Casey Touey was taken down in the box. O'Reilly stepped to the spot and buried the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
- In the second half, Delaware attacked early, forcing Molly Piso come up with a handful of saves, but she turned aside all six attempts on goal that she saw.
- The Blue Hens made it close late with a goal in the 84th minute, but Drexel held on for the win.
