Lappin Sets Single-Season Goal Record as Dragons Advance To CAA Semis

PHILADELPHIA – A pair of second half goals from Delaney Lappin propelled the Drexel women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory against the William & Mary Tribe in the Colonial Athletic Association quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Dragons will host the winner between Northeastern and Stony Brook later tonight in a semifinal to be played on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

- The win is the second ever for women's soccer in its postseason history. DU previously defeated James Madison in a semifinal on November 4, 2016.
- Lappin set the program record for single-season goals with her 11th and 12th, besting the mark of 11 set by Vanessa Kara in 2015.
BY THE NUMBERS
- It was Lappin's fourth match with two goals this season.
- Casey Touey and Gabrielle Perrotto each had an assist. For Touey it was her third helper and the second of the year for Perrotto.
- Drexel held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal and had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite chances early, the Dragons found themselves down 1-0 at the half as the Tribe scored in the 42nd minute.
- Lappin netted her 11th of the season off a scramble in the box. Touey smacked a ball that was deflected by the keeper before Lappin sent it across the line, tying the match in the 50th minute.
- 10 minutes later, Lappin struck again, cracking a shot from outside the box into the top right corner.
