LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 7 Drexel men's squash team punched its ticket to the Pennsylvania Cup finals on Saturday with an 8-1 win against No. 13 Chatham.
Drexel jumped out to an early 4-0 lead as in the first rotation, Yuri Pelbart won 11-5, 11-4, 13-11 at number five followed by Matthew Lucente picking up his first win of the season, 11-3, 11-6, 11-5 in the eighth position. Matias Knudsen claimed an 11-8, 11-4, 11-7 victory at number one with Nico Serna winning 11-7, 11-9, 11-8 in the third spot.
Noel Heaton took the winning point for the Dragons at number seven. He won the first game 11-3 before having to use extra points to take the second game 12-10. Heaton then finished his sweep with an 11-4 win in the third game against Abdelrahman Sadek.
Also earning wins for DU were Filip Krueger, Haris Qasim and José López.
The Dragons play for the Penn Cup when they take on No. 2 Penn on Sunday, November 13. Opening serve from the U. S. Squash Center is scheduled for noon.
