No. 7 Men's Squash Sweeps No. 9 Columbia

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 7 Drexel men's squash team defended its home court with a 9-0 shutout against No. 9 Columbia on Friday afternoon.
The Dragons took care of business in the opening rotation of the day as Filip Krueger at number seven, Nico Serna at number four and Haris Qasim at number two all came away with sweeps. Closing the opening slate of matches, José López rallied from 2-1 down to claim an 11-5, 5-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-5 victory against Zach Nam in the fifth position.
Drexel clinched the match at the top of the ladder as Matias Knudsen swept Harold Castiaux 11-9, 11-7, 11-3. Yuri Pelbart continued his perfect start to the season with a sweep in the sixth spot while Noel Heaton took a 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6 win at number eight.
Closing the sweep for the Dragons were a pair of five-set, come-from-behind wins. In the ninth position, Gautam Nagpal rallied for a 13-15, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-3 reverse sweep of Sameer Saxena in a match that lasted more than an hour. At number three, Fritiof Jacobsson came back from 2-1 down to knot the match at 2-2 and was leading in the fifth game when his opponent retired.
Drexel next takes on No. 4 Yale on Sunday, December 4. Opening serve from the Kline & Specter Squash Center is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
