No. 9 Men's Squash Earns Crucial Wins Against No. 7 Cornell, No. 15 St. Lawrence

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 9 Drexel University men's squash team had a big day as the Dragons downed No. 7 Cornell 6-3 before taking down No. 20 St. Lawrence 7-2.
Against the Big Red, Drexel jumped out in front 2-0 as Haris Qasim claimed a 3-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-4 victory versus Arnaav Sareen in the third spot and Matthew Lucente outlasted Tanay Punjabi in the ninth position with a 19-17, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6 win. After Cornell got on the board, DU opened up a 4-1 lead as Noel Heaton won 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-5 against Nicholas Robinson at number seven and Dylan Kachur downed Nikhil Iyer 12-10, 11-3, 12-10 at number five.
The Big Red tallied one more point before the Dragons claimed the match as Matias Knudsen topped Spencer Yager 11-3, 11-4, 11-5 at number two. Picking up the final point of the opener for DU was Jose Lopez who prevailed against Nicholas Goth Errington 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 at number six,
Taking on St. Lawrence, Drexel earned early points at number three where Qasim topped Luis Alejandro Moncada Gonzalez 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 and in the fifth position where Lopez defeated Hassan Makdour 11-4, 11-2, 11-2. A win by Kachur at number four extended the DU lead to 3-1.
The Saints picked up a victory at number one to draw closer, but Drexel closed the match with wins from Filip Krueger at number seven Heaton at number six to clinch the match. DU completed the score with wins at number two by Knudsen and at the eighth spot from Shaan Dalal.
Up next for the Dragons is the CSA Team Championships to be held in Philadelphia, February 18-20.
