
Penn Takes Battle of the Cheesesteak Trophy

PHILADELPHIA – The Dragons lost a tough battle with a heavily ranked Penn lineup on Sunday afternoon, 35-8. The Dragons fall to 5-8 overall and will enter the conference tournament in March with an even 4-4 EIWA record.
Penn got off to a hot start taking a fall victory in the opening bout at 149lbs. Parker Kropman and Evan Barczak battled to the final seconds at 157lbs and 165lbs but came up short in back-to-back decisions.
Mickey O'Malley came up big for the Dragons with his 10th pin of the year over #18 Nick Incontrera. The redshirt junior remains undefeated in EIWA matchups at a perfect 7-0.
Bryan McLaughlin and Neil Antrassian traded points for the full match, each putting up double digit scoring. McLaughlin came close to a victory but Antrassian found three in the final seconds to take home a 15-12 decision.
Despite a pair of losses in the following three matches, Jaxon Maroney captured his fifth conference win at 133lbs with a 7-4 decision over Kelly Dunnigan.
