
No. 8 Men's Squash Drops Heartbreaker to No 9 Virginia

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 8 Drexel University men's squash team was narrowly edged by No. 9 Virginia in the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championship finals, 5-4 on Sunday afternoon
Haris Qasim got the Dragons on the board at number three with an 11-2, 13-11, 11-7 victory against Cullen Little. After the Cavaliers tied it, DU earned two points in quick succession. At number six, Jose Lopez outlasted CJ Baldini 11-7, 13-11, 11-9 before Filip Krueger put Drexel up 3-1 with a reverse sweep in the eighth spot. After dropping the first two games 7-11 and 6-11, Krueger rallied to take the final three in a row, 11-7, 11-5, 11-9.
Virginia scored the first point of the second rotation at number two to close the gap. The Dragons got the point back in the fifth spot as Dylan Kachur won 11-6, 11-7, 11-2. UVA did not go away, winning at numbers nine and seven to pull the match at 4-4. The final match went to a fifth game, but DU was unable to claim the win.
The Dragons return home for Senior Day on Wednesday, February 9, taking on Princeton. Opening serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
