Men's Tennis Defeats Georgetown, 4-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's tennis team defeated the Georgetown Hoyas in a dual on Wednesday at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center. The Dragons (7-2) defeated the Hoyas (4-7), 4-2.
Drexel jumped out to a quick start, winning the doubles point. Matvey Radionov and Sanil Jagtiani defeated their opponents, 6-3. After Georgetown took the third-seeded match, Xandy Hammitt and Alex De Sousa downed their opponents in the top-flight, 7-6 (5).
The Dragons received a win in the top-seeded singles match in singles play. De Sousa defeated his opponent, 6-3, 6-4. Djordje Janackovic battled in the fourth-seeded match to win in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. Juan Manuel Sanchez earned the match-clinching point in the fifth-seeded match after powering through a three-set marathon, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.
Although the sixth-seeded match was called due to timing, Gustav Wogen held the lead entering the second set. He won the first set, 6-3, and led the second set 1-0 when the match was decided.
The Dragons return to the court on Friday, March 11, when they travel to Queens, N.Y. to take on the St. John's Red Storm. Opening serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
