NORMAN, Okla. - Drexel's Angelo Giantsopoulos and Drue Nicholas of men's golf were each named the PING All-Region team. The pair were selected to the All-Region Team in the Northeast.
Earlier this month, both Giantsopoulos and Nicholas were named to the Colonial Athletic Association's Second Team. The duo helped lead the Dragons to a third-place finish at the CAA Championships in April. Giantsopoulos capped an outstanding career by finishing tied for seventh at the CAA Championships. The fifth-year senior shot a two-under par 69 in the final two rounds of the event. His 71.4 scoring average in 2021-22 tied for the third lowest scoring average ever at Drexel.
Nicholas was named to the All-CAA Championship team last month. The Egg Harbor Township native tied for fourth overall at the tournament at four-under par in the 54-hole event. This past season, Nicholas, a sophomore, led the Dragons with a 70.6 scoring average, the second lowest single-season scoring average in Drexel history. He had seven top 10 finishes and shot par or better in 20 of his 29 rounds.
The Dragons had one of their best seasons in school history. Drexel won the City Six, the Wildcat Invitational and the Columbia Spring Invitational this academic year.
