BY THE NUMBERS
- Annalena O'Reilly and Delaney Lappin each scored for Drexel in the match. It was O'Reilly's third goal of the year, matching her total from last season.
- Lappin, Kelly Jones and Anna Salvucci all posted assists. It was the initial helper of 2022 for all three and the first for Jones in a Drexel uniform.
- Making a return to Western Pennsylvania for the first time in her collegiate career, Hermitage, Pa. native Molly Piso recorded a career high of seven saves to earn the clean sheet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless into the 50th minute the Dragons earned a corner. Lappin delivered the ball into the mixer where it was tapped down by Jones onto the waiting foot of O'Reilly, who sent it across the goal line for her third tally of the season.
- Just 4:40 later, Lappin received a pass from Salvucci In open space. Faced with taking on two defenders and with the goalie off her line, the junior forward chipped the ball from more than 40 yards out. The keeper backpedaled, but was unable to prevent Lappin from scoring her second of the year.
- Duquesne had a pair of golden chances to get back into the match late. In the 76th minute as it was awarded a free kick just outside the box, but the strike clanged off the crossbar. The Dukes found themselves with the ball open on the left side of the net in the 82nd minute, however Piso came up with a diving stop to preserve the shutout.
