Maxfield and Nicholas Tie for Seventh Overall

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Drue Nicholas and Oscar Maxfield each shot one-under par over 54 holes as Drexel finished eighth in the 17-team field at the River Run Collegiate. The Dragons shot even par as a team in Tuesday's final round, which tied for the fourth best round of any team.

Maxfield, in his first season with the Dragons, had the best round of his Drexel career. The graduate student shot five-under par on the day with six birdies at River Run Country Club. His 67 was just one shot behind the leaders on Tuesday. Nicholas was one-under par in the final round as Drexel finished the final round at 288. Caleb Taylor had a 74, while Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa closed the tournament at 76.

The hosts from Davidson picked up the win in the tournament, firing a three-over par 867. The Wildcats were 11-under par on Tuesday. East Carolina was three shots back, while Dayton and Radford finished third and fourth, respectively. The Dragons were just two shots out of fifth place.

Drexel will have a few weeks off before competing again. Head Coach Ben Feld's team will play in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in Sonoma, Calif. beginning Oct. 10.
