Women's Soccer Pulls Out Stunning Win at UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Casey Touey chipped a ball over the head of the keeper with 1:08 remaining as the Drexel women's soccer team stunned the UNCW Seahawks, 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons run their unbeaten streak to 10 matches and are now 7-0-3 on the season and 2-0-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association.

OF NOTE
- Drexel is now one of just 13 unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I.
- The 10-match unbeaten streak to open the year ties the second longest in CAA history. The 2004 UNCW squad began the season 9-0-1.
- It is the first win for the Dragons against the Seahawks since 2017.
- Drexel is 2-0-0 in the CAA for the first time since 2014 when it also picked up wins against Charleston and UNCW.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The goal for Touey was her fourth of the season and her first since August 25.
- Also finding the back of the net for Drexel were Lily Dunbar and Annalena O'Reilly. It was the first goal of the year for Dunbar and the fifth for O'Reilly.
- DU found the back of the net in three of its four shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Drexel found itself trailing for the first time this season when the Seahawks scored towards the end of the 21st minute.
- Coming right back in the 29th minute, Dunbar sent a free kick into the wall. The ball came right back to her and she lofted the it into the right side of the net, knotting the score at 1-1.
- Five minutes later, O'Reilly came down the right side and sent a ball into the box. The strike curled in and clipped the underside of the crossbar before going over the line.
- The Dragons held the 2-1 lead into the 88th minute when UNCW delivered a score that looked like it would secure a draw for the home side.
- Playing until the final whistle, Drexel had two chances. The first for Touey was saved by the center back on the goal line. With a second opportunity 15 seconds later, she chipped the ball from the right side of the box into the top left corner of the net for the game-winner.
