Stony Brook Edges Drexel, 67-66

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Amari Williams jumper went around the rim and out in the final seconds at Stony Brook edged Drexel in a Colonial Athletic Association game on Thursday night, 67-66. Drexel saw its record fall to 9-8 and 3-2 in the CAA. Justin Moore had 13 points and five assists in the loss for Drexel. Stony Brook is now 3-1 in league play and 7-10 overall.
The lead changed hands four times in the final 90 seconds. Stony Brook's Tyler Stephenson-Moore scored what proved to be the game-winner on a short jumper outside the lane with nine seconds to go. The Dragons came downcourt and got the ball in to Williams in the paint, but his shot would not fall.
The Seawolves rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half to pull off the come-from-behind win. They shot 56 percent in the second half and made five of their nine 3-point attempts down the stretch. Drexel had its chances to put the game away but uncharacteristically struggled from the free throw line. The Dragons were just 5-for-13 in the second half from the line, which allowed the Seawolves to get back in the game.
The Dragons used an early second half run to get the lead for the first time in the contest. Drexel rattled off eight-straight points, keyed by a pair of Luke House 3-pointers. The lead increased to nine with 9:42 to play. However, Stony Brook answered with a 12-1 run and held Drexel without a basket for a stretch of four minutes.
Williams led Drexel with 14 points and six rebounds. He was 6-for-8 from the floor and also had three assists. Moore played one of his better games of the season, committing just two turnovers in 34 minutes of play. House added 10 points for the Dragons, who shot 51 percent in the game.
Stephenson-Moore led all players with 21 points. Frankie Policelli added 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for the Seawolves. Stony Brook outrebounded the Dragons by 11 and missed just one of its 13 free throws.
