HAMPTON, Va. – The Drexel women's basketball team overcame a slow start to win its eighth straight game and remain undefeated in the CAA with a 67-51 win against the Hampton Pirates on Friday night.

BY THE NUMBERS

Grace O'Neill tied her career-high with 19 points and pulled in six rebounds while delivering four assists.
Keishana Washington scored 17 points, 13 coming in the second half. It was her 50th consecutive game with 10 or more points, pulling her to within two of the school record.
Maura Hendrixson posted 13 points and dished six assists.
The Dragons forced 20 Hampton turnovers.
DU connected on 12-of-13 at the line in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Neither team shot well to start the game, but the Dragons found their way to put points on the board with four free throws from Tori Hyduke as Drexel closed the first on a 9-2 run.
DU opened the second quarter well, hitting three of its first five shots from the floor, opening a 21-10 lead on a Hendrixson triple at the 5:50 mark. The Pirates battled back, scoring seven in a row before Hendrixson stemmed the tide with her third three-pointer of the half. The shot ignited a 9-1 run to end the frame as Drexel took a 30-18 into halftime.
While the first half was a team effort to build the lead, the opening moments of the third quarter belonged to Washington who scored 10 straight points for Drexel in a span of just 102 seconds. Hampton found its stroke late in the frame, scoring 10 of the final 14 points, cutting the Dragons' edge to 50-38 with 10 minutes to play.
The Pirates continued to claw early in the fourth, but Drexel went on an 11-2 run to pull away for the win.
