Drexel Wrestling Announces 2023-24 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel University wrestling team unveiled its 2023-24 schedule on Friday afternoon. The schedule includes four tournaments, eight conference duals, the EIWA Championships, and the NCAA Championships. Drexel's slate features the return of the Dragon Duals as well as home matches against Wisconsin and Stanford.
Wrestling starts its season on the road in Charleston at the Citadel Invitational on Nov. 5. This is Drexel's first appearance in the tournament. The Dragons then head home to familiar territory to wrestle in the PRTC Keystone Classic at the Palestra on Nov. 19.
The program opens the season at home in the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Dec. 3. They will host Little Rock, Clarion, and West Liberty in the Dragon Duals. DU continues its homestand on Dec. 9, against B1G opponent, Wisconsin. The team then travels to Ohio University for a matchup on Dec. 16 before competing in the Southern Scuffle and F&M Open. DU continues its road trip against EIWA foes Binghamton and Army West Point on Jan. 13 and 14. The trip ends against Princeton in the team's first matchup since the 2019-20 season.
The Dragons then return home for a trio of matches versus Stanford (Jan. 21), Bucknell (Jan. 28), and Rider (Feb. 3). Next up, the team travels to the nation's capital for the American Duals before heading north to Providence, R.I. for an EIWA contest against Brown (Feb. 10). Drexel comes back to Market St on Feb. 16 and 17 for a weekend doubleheader against conference rivals, LIU and Franklin & Marshall. The final road test will take place against Maryland in College Park, on Feb. 23. The regular season closes out with senior night on Feb. 24 at the DAC against Hofstra.
The postseason starts on the campus of Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa. at the EIWA Championships on March 9 and 10. Drexel then looks to the NCAA Championships in Kansas City from March 21 to 23.
DU closed out last year with a 10-8 record, which was its highest win total since going 12-4 in the 2017-18 season. Additionally, Mickey O'Malley, Evan Barczak, and Brian Bonino advanced to the 2023 NCAA Championships. O'Malley and Bonino earned victories against top ten seeds in the first round and Bonino reached the Round of 12 at 184lbs.
