No. 5 Women's Squash Advances to PA State Championship with Pair of Sweeps

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 5 Drexel University women's squash team opened its season well at the PA Squash Championships on Saturday, pulling down sweeps against both No. 25 Franklin & Marshall and No. 22 Dickinson.
Starting the day against the Diplomats, the Dragons fired on all cylinders right out of the gate, not dropping a single game in the win. Opening the contest, Karina Tyma won at No. 2 followed by a victory from Dina Rosli in the fifth position. In the eighth spot on the ladder, Maddie Laine made her Drexel debut with a 11-2, 11-0, 11-1 win. Margot Prow topped Garlin Kaur 11-7, 11-5, 11-0 in the top spot with the clinching point coming from Emi Falconi in the fourth position.
Also picking up victories against Frankin & Marshall were Emma Bartley, Moa Bonnemark, Claudia Adam and Eveli Malk.
In the second match of the day, it was a similar story as no one lost a game against the Red Devils. Prow, Tyma, Bartley, Falconi and Rosli were joined by some new faces on the ladder as Lydia Robinson at No. 6, Sanya Vats at No. 7 and Ava Prokes in the eighth position all won their first matches of the year.
With the wins, the Dragons advance to the finals of the PA Squash Championship to take on the No. 8 Penn Quakers. Opening serve from the Penn Squash Center will begin at 1:00 p.m.
