NEW YORK – The No. 6 Drexel women's squash team defeated the No. 10 Columbia Lions on the road Sunday afternoon by a score of 7-2. With the win, the Dragons improved their record to 3-3 while the Lions moved down to 1-3.
Karina Tyma got the first victory of the day for the Dragons as she defeated Erica McGillicuddy 11-3, 11-8, 11-3 in the two spot. It was Emi Falconi who kept it going for the Dragons in the four spot as she was able to defeat Aleeza Khan, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7, 11-3. Fast forwarding to the eight spot, Sanya Vats downed Advita Sharma 11-9, 11-3, 11-6.
Emma Bartley went the distance against Nourin Khalifa, winning by a score of 11-9, 5-11, 12-14, 11-8, 11-2 in the three spot. Dina Rosili also got a victory in the six spot, taking down Sarah Cao 11-6, 5-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-8. Moa Bonnemark secured victory as she took down Eugenia Li, 11-4, 6-11, 11-9, 7-11,13-11 in the seven spot. Lastly, Maddie Laine was the fourth Dragon to go the distance as she earned the victory against Kaavya Bansal in the nine spot, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9.
The Dragons are now off until the new year when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on Cornell on Saturday, January 13. Action is slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
