Women's Squash Finishes Fifth at CSA Championships

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's squash team completed its run at the CSA Team Championships on Sunday morning with a 5-4 win against Columbia. The Dragons earned a fifth-place finish at the tournament, the second highest placement ever for Drexel.
Things appeared to be going well for the Dragons who were up 4-2 before Columbia battled back to tie the score. The match came down to the number nine position, where Ciara Richards went up 2-1 before dropping the fourth game. Richards came out with a vengeance in the fifth and took down Ellie McVeigh 10-12, 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-1 to secure the victory.
Lydia Robinson got the day started for DU at number eight with an 11-9, 11-6, 12-10 victory against Amal Izhar. After the Lions tied the match, Drexel took a 3-1 lead as Moa Bonnemark took a 9-11, 11-1, 11-9, 11-8 victory in the sixth spot and Margot Prow won 11-3, 11-6, 11-6 at number three.
Earning a fourth point for the Dragons was Sanya Vats at number seven who outlasted Elizabeth Lentz 7-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4, 11-9.
Next up for the Dragons is the CSA Individual Championships to be held at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center, March 3-5.
