Women's Rowing Opens Competition at Sunshine State Invitational

SARASOTA,Fla. - The Drexel women's rowing team began its run at the Sunshine State Invitational on Friday afternoon with a pair of boats advancing to the Grand Finals of their events.

The Second Varsity 8+ of Chloe Minicucci (coxswain), Sophia Lamb (stroke), Kayla Driscoll, Lexie Hain, Rachel Civan, Baylor Henry, Hannah Walseth, Katie Ernst and Valentina Frusone (bow) placed second in its heat with a time of 6:54.57 to gain automatic entry into the Grand Final.

In the Varsity 8+, the team of Natalie Cleri (coxswain), Taylor Powell (stroke), Mollie Knoff, Giavanna Hunt, Rita Keefer, Kirby Droogan, Hayley McKeever, Julianna Rogers and Morgan Van Dexter (bow) took third, crossing the finish line with a 6:38.99 clocking. The Dragons advance to the Grand Final in the event by being one of the four fastest teams that did not finish in the top two of its heat.

The V4+ placed fifth in its heat with a time of 7:40.94 and will compete in the Petite Final.

The event continues on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
