BRIDGEPORT, W.V. - In their final tune-up before the conference championships, the Dragons had an outstanding last round to vault into second place at the Mountaineer Invitational. Drexel fired a two-under par 286, which was the second lowest score in the third round at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport. The only team to finish ahead of the Blue and Gold was Oklahoma State, who came into the event ranked 20th in the nation.

Drexel started the round playing the back nine and came out firing right away. All five of Drexel's players shot par or better over the first nine holes of the day. Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa was four-under on the back nine with four birdies as the Dragons climbed their way up the standings. He had the Dragons best round of the day with a 70 (-2) and tied for 15th overall. Griffin Mitchell continued his stellar play with a 71. Mitchell was the team's top overall performer in the 54-hole event. He was tied for sixth overall at 221 (+5). Drue Nicholas and Liam Hart each ended the tournament just three strokes behind Nyamukondiwa. Hart shot even par on Tuesday.

Only one player in the entire tournament finished at par. Conditions improved somewhat on Tuesday after a cold, windy and raw day on Monday. The Dragons finished one shot better than West Virginia, the hosts from the Big 12. Coastal Carolina and James Madison rounded out the top five in the 13-team event.
