Women's Tennis Downs Monmouth in CAA First Round, 4-1

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Drexel women's tennis team defeated the Monmouth Hawks, 4-1 in the first round of the 2023 CAA Tournament on Thursday afternoon.
Drexel opened up doubles play with a 6-2 victory in the top-seeded match. Lombera and Lemongo paired together and won that flight convincingly. In the third-seeded match, Mya Fuentes and Cristina Corte Gonzalez took down their opponents, 6-1, to clinch the point for Drexel.
In singles play, Lemongo made quick work of her opponent in the top-seeded match, 6-1, 6-0. In the third-seeded match, Isabel Cabrerizo downed her opponent, 6-2, 6-3. The Dragons earned their fourth point in the fifth-seeded match when Aida Garcia Mendez's opponent needed to withdraw.
Drexel faces the Delaware Blue Hens on Friday in the conference's quarterfinals. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
